About HEMC GmbH and SiloCool Grain Coolers
HEMC GmbH was established in 1925 as “Mathias Holzinger Mühlenbau” in Eferding, Upper Austria as a flour mill repair and service enterprise. Already by 1927 marketing of outsourced milling equipment under MHE – Mathias Holzinger Eferding brand had started and in a few years first manufacturing facility gets established in Eferding. Business quickly grows with MHE brand making a reputation for well engineered and carefully manufactured roller mills, sifters and cleaners for flour mills as well as equipment for sawmills.
Over the following decades solutions for Agroindustry become the main focus and result in many very successful cooperations with other producers of equipment. One of these cooperations was with a Bavarian company called Sulzer – Escher Wyss that produced a grain cooler called Granifrigor, a brand that still exists today under new ownership. Holzinger Maschinenfabrik Anlagenbau in late 1960’s became the exclusive representation for Granifrigor coolers for Austria. This cooperation lasted for over three decades.
Hundreds of machines were sold and solid knowhow and reputation was gained in preservation of grains through conservation cooling. Today, economics of production, lack of qualified labor and high components prices no longer favor production of grain coolers in Western Europe. HEMC GmbH is headquartered in Vienna, Austria but most production is outsourced to lower cost countries. Our brand of SiloCool Grain Coolers are now manufactured in cooperation with one of the leading Asian producers of industrial cooling equipment. SiloCool Coolers use top brand components from the leading manufacturers and are manufactured under strictest supervision and quality control of German engineering.
